About
In 1994, Paul de Jonge purchased 80 acres of land east of Lethbridge. The farm provided a home but was intended for a U-pick strawberry and raspberry operation. Over the next decade, greenhouses and the storefront were built as the business expanded. Today, land at Broxburn Vegetables is farmed for the production of various fruits and vegetable, including one of the largest commercial broccoli crops in Alberta. At Broxburn Vegetables, they pride themselves on growing superior quality field and greenhouse fruits and vegetables. Presently operating a 3-acre greenhouse where crops are grown biologically; meaning that natural predators are used instead of spraying chemical pesticides to kill the pests. Harvesting vine ripened tomatoes daily ensures the plant benefits to their maximum potential. Long English cucumbers, mini cucumbers, eggplant, beans, hot peppers, herbs, and butterleaf lettuce are also grown in the greenhouse, and the strawberry and raspberry u-pick operates from the beginning of July until the first frost. At the café, they incorporate fresh produce from the greenhouses, field crops, and other local suppliers into their meals, creating a true farm to table experience. Enjoy the warm and inviting ambiance, while reveling in the ultimate country dining experience.
