Festival / Fine Dining

About

RAW: ALMOND is a 22-day winter fine dining festival held on the frozen Red River by The Forks in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This unique event takes place in a temporary structure built on the ice, bringing together world-class chefs from around the globe to create a one-of-a-kind pop-up restaurant experience

Co-founded by Deer + Almond Chef Mandel Hitzer and Joe Kalturnyk, the founding director of RAW Design. RAW: ALMOND offers a culinary adventure with multi-course meals prepared by a rotating roster of top chefs. Each chef provides a new and exciting dining experience, highlighting both international talents and local ingredients.

The dining setting itself is crafted with limited seating and low lighting. This is to create an intimate setting among the guests, enhancing the various smells, textures and flavour profiles from each distinct dish. If you are a food lover, RAW: ALMOND is truly a must-visit attraction.

About Winnipeg

Winnipeg’s culinary scene is a lot more than just perogies and honey dill – although, we are particularly proud of our potatoes, dough, butter and signature chicken finger-accompanying condiment.

More than 100 languages are spoken in Winnipeg, and this worldly ensemble has helped create neighbourhoods like The West End which is celebrated for its pho, injera, curries, jerk and tacos. Surrounded by farmland as far as the eye can see, the city’s top bakers (many of whom moved here from France) continue to embrace (and mill onsite) all manner of wheat, making for some of the best sourdoughs and pastries in Canada. You’ll also find plenty of local grains being used at our distilleries when it comes to vodka, gin and whiskies.
