About
You’ll find over 75 quality oils and balsamics inside this exquisite, Tuscany-themed taphouse on Second Street, downtown. Owner Carmen has a passion for creating wholesome and nutritious dishes, with sustainability at top of mind. There is a list of creamy soups, panini-pressed sandwiches, and fresh salads made with Alberta-farm chickpeas, locally-grown produce, and the high-quality oils and balsamics featured in the taproom. The eatery is allergy-friendly, with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options, making it easy for everyone to fill up on a delicious meal. Alongside a market with a variety of spices and rubs, the taproom features pottery-artist Mud to a Rock. The beautiful mugs, trays, sugar and cream holders, and other dishware she creates is one-of-a-kind — each item is always different in some creative way. Clay was a prominent factor for Medicine Hat’s economic boom in the early 1900s. The abundance of resources led to the clay district producing 70 per cent of Canada’s ceramics, and Medalta in the Historic Clay District, a now National Historic Site, still stands as a museum. The Hat’s Olive Tap celebrates everything local and always brings a memorable experience to the guest with decor, storytelling, and sustainable ingredients.
