Today, we're featuring the Route du Bonheur in Western Canada, where luxury escapes and wild adventures await. This route was created by Charles McDiarmid, owner of the Wickaninnish Inn. Located in McDiarmid's hometown of Tofino, the Wickaninnish Inn is a beautiful boutique hotel perched between the ancient rainforest and the sea.

Here are the five can't-miss Relais & Châteaux stops along the Route du Bonheur in Western Canada:

Imagine skiing or hiking with the spectacular Canadian Rockies as a backdrop. This is a protected region, designated as a World Heritage Site – unspoiled natural beauty, pristine wilderness and a safe haven for the bountiful wildlife.

The Post Dining Room is just as enticing. Awarded "Best Food in the Americas" by Conde Nast Traveler's Gold list, The Dining Room is a destination unto itself. European-trained Executive Chef Hans Sauter presents a seasonal menu that reflects the bounty of Alberta. Next door, Fondue Stübli features traditional Swiss fondues including a classic cheese fondue and fondue “bourguignonne," both perfect options after a long day spent outdoors.
