A Rainbow of Flavours in Prince Edward County

By Sarah Israel/

Great Taste of Canada

Toronto and Prince Edward County are both perched on the shores of Lake Ontario, but the two may as well be worlds apart. Located just a couple of hours away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Prince Edward County offers a gateway to Ontario’s natural beauty that is accessible every day of the year.

Beyond miles of sandy beaches and lush rolling hills, the County is home to an edgy and vibrant culinary scene that comes to life in the spring. Here, classic wineries and white-tablecloth restaurants rub shoulders with new-school breweries, seasonal dining experiences, and wood-fired pizza galore.

Have we convinced you to add the County to your foodie itinerary yet? If so, check out our favourite ways to get a taste of place in Prince Edward County!

    Matron Brewing Co.

    65 Barker’s Lane, Bloomfield, ON

Matron Brewing Co. is on a mission to make a finite amount of delicious beer that is special to its community. Their operation is small, and that’s how they like it. This beautiful brewery at the end of a lane in Bloomfield is worth visiting for the views alone, but after sampling their well-crafted small-batch beers, you’ll be leaving with a flat of cans in your trunk. Keep an eye on their socials for upcoming food pop-ups, like their recent brunch event with Scout Canning founder, Charlotte Langley.
