Canadian Food Scenes to Discover this Fall, Part 4: Vernon

By Sarah Israel/

Great Taste of Canada

Fall is the perfect time to explore a new food scene! As the air turns crisp and the leaves turn red and gold, we’re taking you on a tour of Canadian food scenes that deserve a closer look. We’re heading to the North Okanagan region of British Columbia to check out the city of Vernon!

There’s all sorts of fall fun to be had in Vernon. The city is surrounded by breathtaking lakes and trails that are perfect for hikes and mountain biking. Paddle along the shores of Okanagan Lake, spend the day picking apples in a beautiful orchard or play a few rounds of late-season golf; no matter how you like to spend a fall afternoon, Vernon has just the thing!

Hungry? Thirsty? You’ve come to the right place for that, too! Here are a few spots to check out on your next visit to Vernon:

  • Cambium Cider Co.

4667 East Vernon Road, Vernon, BC

Cambium Cider Co.’s orchard has been producing apples since 1946! Today, the farm grows more than two dozen varieties of apples, including modern dessert apples, nearly-forgotten heritage cultivars, and vintage cider fruit. These sugar-laden fruits are hand-harvested and slowly fermented into delicious craft ciders that are blended and bottled on-site. Enjoy a glass of your favourite cider over lunch or dinner at the cidery’s farm-to-table restaurant, which features a wood-fired grill and a menu overflowing with Okanagan produce.
