Okotoks offers stunning views, outdoor adventures, and a unique and evolving culinary scene – and seeing as it’s ideally located just a short drive south of Calgary, a day trip to this charming town is a perfect way to explore the area!
Here’s how to spend the perfect day in Okotoks, Alberta:
Start the day at French 50 Bakery
French 50 Bakery owners Brad and Marie-Luce are passionate about making great bread and sharing good food with the community. After many trips to France – and realizing that traditional baking was not easily found in Southern Alberta – Brad and Marie-Luce took their baking to local farmers' markets, introducing the community to their artisanal sourdough bread. Their operations grew quickly, and in 2022, Brad and Marie-Luce transformed a 110-year-old historic space into a full-service cafe, brunch & breakfast gem, with an evening dinner service focused on artisan pizza.
Breakfast is available Tuesday to Sunday from 8am to 1:45pm – don’t miss their tartines, an open-faced sandwich on sourdough bread with delicious toppings like brie & honey or roasted mushrooms and goat cheese.
Check out the Okotoks Art Gallery
Located inside the historic 1929 Canadian Pacific Railway Station, the Okotoks Art Gallery (OAG) includes two gallery spaces for exhibitions, a gift shop featuring local and Canadian artisan wares, and also serves as the Visitor Information Centre for Okotoks. The OAG is also home to countless programs for children, adults, families and seniors that explore and connect to art in exciting ways. Open Tuesday to Saturday

Take in an Okotoks Dawgs baseball game
The Okotoks Dawgs offer a family-friendly atmosphere and great baseball action that appeals to everyone! The Dawgs are part of the Western Canadian Baseball League, a showcase for top Canadian and American collegiate athletes. It’s a great way to see some up-and-coming baseball stars in action without breaking the bank. This year’s home opener is on May 31, 2025!
